the boys had the day off today due to parent-teacher conferences. (they get tomorrow off, too.) we got together with some other friends that also had the day off and went sledding. the sleds that worked best seemed to be the flat foam ones that look like boogie boards and the round disc sleds.

we also had the cub scout holiday party today. the highlight of the event was making bowling pins into snowmen. my friend heather painted them all white & the kids glued buttons, hats, & noses on them & then drew eyes. sammy was singing songs to his. (i hope he always stays this sweet.)

i'm probably the only person who thinks so, but the one-shouldered dresses that they're showing a lot of lately either remind me of fred flintstone's outfit or make me think that i need to politely tell the person that one of their straps has fallen down. i'm just not a big fan of lopsided outfits.

in related news, i found a dress for mike's company holiday party this saturday. i'm pretty excited about the party -- it's one of the few chances i have all year to get out and wear fancy clothes. :)

the boys were so excited about helping to put up the tree and all the ornaments on it. they were very systematic about where all the ornaments went. sammy loved that we have several locomotive ornaments. he arranged them all so they look like they're driving on the garland. we also apparently have ornaments that look like good guys & bad guys, but that might just be sammy's usual imagination. he's big on having the good guys fight the bad guys.

he's also very, very obsessed with "the cheese touch". kids in his school no longer play tag. they just give each other the cheese touch and go around most of the day with their fingers crossed so they don't get it back. very few days go by where i haven't received the cheese touch several times.
