We've been busy since my last post. Unfortunately, we haven't taken many pictures. I've been working on costumes for Sammy's class play. He gets to be a biologist, but most of the other kids need animal costumes and I've volunteered to help parents that want assistance. Sammy wants the whole thing to be a surprise and won't tell me much about what he gets to say or sing for the play. (Yes, it's a musical.)
Sammy's also been working on a big animal report for school. (Well, "big" in second grade terms.) He decided that he wanted to report on goldfish, especially since he's very into his current goldfish, Louis.
We had a Chinese New Year party at our house since we weren't able to have the traditional "Countdown to 6pm" party that we throw. Sammy & I made paper lanterns while Henry was at basketball and Henry & I made streamers while Sammy was at soccer. We made Chinese food. (My friend Crista even made homemade fortune cookies.) It was a good time and we didn't even have to go anywhere. :)
Mike & the boys went to the cub scout campout this past weekend and had the typical wonderful time. The boys said their favorite part was going on a hike and seeing the different animal footprints. There was even enough snow for the kids to be able to go sledding for a bit.
I stayed behind. I've volunteered to be one of the judges for the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition, and training for the judges was Saturday morning. Odyssey is a competition where teams of kids compete to creatively solve problems presented to them. It should be fun. (And I won't even miss seeing the robot competition the following weekend! Yay!)
